Appetizers on the Porch

I had told myself I would make more use of the porch and my flowers this summer for tablescapes, and I just haven't done it.

The tablecloth is Ralph Lauren from Home Goods.

The vase is a thrift store wicker covered bottle.

Goblets are from Tar-jay.

Salad plates also thrift store.

Hi Pat... this is Larry at Conrad Art Glass & Gardens, answering a hosta question you had left in your comment at my site... the hosta to the right in photo 31 is 'Tokadama aureonebulosa', which is a very slow growing plant that is always beautiful... I divided mine into three plants this spring as one section had some reversion after 25 years of not being divided. The hosta on the left is called 'Dance With Me' and develops much more quickly than the former. For the patient gardener, there are few hostas as beautiful as 'Tokadama aureonebulosa'. 'Tokadama flavocircinalis' is a close second however, develops more quickly, and is one I
I've featured in past posts. Hope this helps!

In regard to your post on using the porch, I must say that I envy anyone who has a porch. Growing up in the mountains of Vermont, my grandparent's home with a large porch was across the road from where I lived with my family. It was the social center of our extended family's life. Sunday afternoons cousins, aunts, and uncles as well as a considerable number of neighbor's would gather there for great times. In the warm summer evening I could always find my grandmother there after the day's work was completed and we would talk until the wee hours of the morning many times. I built a a large gazebo here at Oak Lawn, but it's just not the same... I can't explain why. Appreciate that you have a lovely porch and do use it often! thanks for visiting my site! Larry

Such a lovely setting and your tablescape is just stunning. I love the dishes and the stems, so pretty and so inviting.

I would love to be lucky enough to go to Nell Hill's store. I think you are totally blessed. We don't have anything like that here, but her books are full of eye candy. Hugs, Marty

I always tell my self to use the nice things more and make sure to enjoy the patio all summer long.
