Brown Mill Stream and Crochet

This table started with 2 cups and saucers from my Aunt Lizzie. She can't remember where or why she bought just two, but I love this pattern.

It is Johnson Brothers Mill Stream, often mistaken for Friendly Village. It seems to be hard to find, but I have picked up a couple of pieces here and there.

While setting this table, I had to quick run and look up EXACTLY where the cup and saucers go. I needed Carson!

Are you watching Downton Abbey? I LOVE it! Carson, the butler,  has been seen at the table with ruler,  measuring to make sure the placesettings are properly spaced.

SO, teacups go to the right of the dinner plate, tops aligned, 1 inch from the silver, and cup handles at 4 o'clock.

Shall I pour, Madame?

Beautiful table...love the china, but most of all that tablecloth is just stunning. I have a thing for crocheted pieces. Your flatware is an interesting pattern, too.

How lovely. Surely the designers would be proud of how you have displayed their pieces.

How proud you must be to have those beautiful dishes. The pattern is unusual but oh so pretty. The tablecloth is very pretty, too. Thanks for joining my party, I appreciate it.-------Shannon

Pat, I'm not familiar with Mill Stream.. but I absolutely LOVE your place setting, with the crocheted table cloth and the little flower inside the cup is so sweet. I'll keep an eye out for Mill Stream in my area. And I absolutely love Downton Abbey! I watched the last episode again last night, for the third time! LOL Oh, thanks for the info about the cup handle being at 4 o'clock position. That makes sense for ease of grasping it. Have a great Wednesday.

Oh I truly love this pattern, I have never seen it before, but will definitely keep an eye out. The table is just wonderful, cozy and welcoming for a long and relaxed meal...which is what we all want right?

Beautiful table...love those dishes too. I am a DOWNTON ABBEY fanatic too! Is it finished where you are? They are making a third series and Shirley McLaine is going to play Cora's mother! Can't wait. So glad Carson was able to help you with your table!! ;-)

I just purchased 26 pieces of Mill Stream from a thrift store. I love this pattern. I like your photos of the place settings. I will be shopping for more pieces too!
