The end of summer always signals the state fair. Warm days and cool nights and lots to see. After a 3 1/2 hour drive to my daughter's house, we walked 3 blocks to the Kansas State Fair. And look at the first thing we saw:
My daughter had been going to the fair all week, so she was telling me about all the strange and good food there. So for all you foodie people, I have chronicled the foods available.
Free Ice Cream!!!!
WHAT???
I know, surprised me too!
Free dixie cup sized ice creams.

No sweet tea here, this is Yankee country, you have to ASK for sugar.
I didn't see the red velvet funnel cakes, but they had carrot funnel cakes too.
My daughter tried the deep fried chocolate chip cookie dough. They were balls about plum sized, with a batter around it, and dusted with powdered sugar. Not appealing to me at all.
The standard fare.
I really wanted to see what a Krispy Kreme Burger looked like, but I didn't want to ask anyone if I could take a picture of their food.
How do they do that???

Wow, you are disciplined! I would have definitely had my free dixie cup, and some UNsweetened ice tea (only way I drink it!) and perhaps a caramel apple to bring home. Everything else, well, my olden body cannot handle it lol I love the photo at night with all the rides lit up, it is gorgeous. xo
Oh my goodness, I would be out of control with ice cream, free ice cream! I love a fair and this looks like fun for all. Great photographs. So happy to meet you....

We've never been to the Kansas Fair but free ice cream! Wow! We have been to the Minnesota one where everything was either deep fried, on a stick or both! And they had some of those same foods! Great pictures. Too bad you didn't get a pic of the Krispy Kreme burger!
Haven't been to a state fair since I was in college. Looks like a fun time. Thanks for sharing these unusual food offerings. You got some great shots.
There is nothing like fair food! Great to have you at Seasonal Sundays.

Thanks for sharing your visit to the fair. The food was very different than when, as a child, I used to go to the fair.

I did the same thing. Went for the BBQ. Oh, wait - I did eat a deep fried Milky Way bar....
I've heard that deep fried butter is the newest thing this year. No thanks!
I think the vendors you pictured were the same ones that were here in PA! Thanks for the memories! (because I forgot my camera when I went)
I feel like I've been to the state fair with you! And I don't think I've ever been to one before. Great photos! And I like your note cards on previous post. I used to make those with flickr. :-)
