Dictionary Votives

With a dictionary from the thrift store, Walmart votives, and a little watered down Elmer's glue, these little votives came to life.

I tired to find pictures for each votive, a lilac, a deer, mushrooms, etc. You can see how they look lit and not lit. The one in the front didn't want to flame very much.

When lit, you get a nice yellowed glow.

The wooden box they are sitting in is something I picked up at a garage sale. It looks like a little drawer, but both ends are finished and no hardware.

It's so nice to have spring here early and have daffodils to give away.  I gave my daughter and Mom each a big bunch, and there is still lots in the yard. It's the only bulbs the chipmunks won't eat!

Your votives are so cute. That's a great idea for dictionary pages..I mean who uses a dictionary any more now that we have Wikipedia? :) I saw some old-ish dictionaries at GW. I'm checking them out. Thanks for the neat idea.

Wanted to thank you for your
visit to my blog and your
interesting ideas about Vertigo.
I'm happy to say the treatment
has worked so far and it's so
nice to not be dizzy all the
time...
Thanks again

Your dictionary pages remind me of a dictionary of my grandma's that I have been decopaging things with. It is much different from modern dictionaries. Thanks for sharing these cute little votives.

Love your daffodils. Ours haven't bloomed yet, but my neighbors' have. It's so nice to finally look out the window and see color.

What a creative way to use dictionaries. I used to have a set of old encyclopedias that I bet would work just as well if people have those lying around.

Yours are stunning when lit. Thank you for linking your craft to my party and showing people how to make them.

You did a great job...and I am going to look for an olden dictionary or french book and do the same. You say you used Elmers glue...bet Mod Podge would work, too, don't you? This would be a great craft for my grands.....:)
