So do we have rain? No, I am still watering.
As is most of the country, Kansas is having a bad drought.*** My mom is beginning to talk about the drought of the 1930's in comparison. Eek! We have no water restrictions......yet.
I have given up trying to keep the lawn going, letting it go dormant, however I am keeping the plants alive as best I can. The garden hose has become my nemesis.
Don't forget to keep the bird baths filled. I put pans of water on the ground to keep the squirrels and opossums from climbing the bird bath and toppling it!
Except for this bird bath, which leaks, so I planted it.
View from the screened porch. See how dried up the lawn has become? Boo Hoo.
I notice the birds are visiting the feeders much more too. I guess many plants dried up before they were able to produce seeds.
*** An added note: Today Kansas is the hottest place in the country. Nice.....

This drought is terrible and we will all be paying for it. They say the corn crop this year is very bad. I hope we do get rain, but not flooding. It seems weather is always one extreme or the other. xo
I like your garden. We have rain here in MI since this morning till this time, (in my area) and hope all the 49 states who are experiencing drought will have rain too, asap!
I know how you feel. We were with out rain for weeks and with temps of 105+. Our Bermuda grass turned brown and we've lost several shrubs, even though we watered some. We are always under water restrictions. Your garden looks good. Our hosta just fried even though we watered. We finally got rain a little over a week ago.

The water droplets sure look pretty! We've been fortunate to have some nice showers here in Florida...I'm thankful!
I was thinking Missouri was the hottest, at least it seemed to be! It's so dry here and hot. I'm getting tired of dragging hoses around and watering.
You asked how I got the shots of the birds. I sit outside (when cooler) and keep my camera handy. The birds land on the wires or trees and if they sit still long enough, I can get some fairly good shots using the zoom lens on my camera.

Hi...greetings from Wales where we're hoping for some sunshine. The UK has experienced the wettest summer for years! I loved your quote. We haven't been dancing in the rain recently but I remember doing just that in the drought of 1976. Living with just wells for us and our dairy herd...when it started raining we ran outside and just stood in it while it ran down our faces! We have been spared from the drought that most of the country seems to be in but I am sure it will affect us all in the end. It looks like you are winning the battle with the hose as your plants look vibrant and healthy and your garden is just so pretty. Praying for rain and keeping the faith.

We have been hot here, but finally cooled down and got a bit of rain. I sure hope you get to dance soon! I love playing in the rain. I also love the smell afterwards and how everything looks so renewed. I think your garden still looks lovely. I love Hostas. I have a few, but will plant more as I get more shade. They are one of my favorites. Now following you.
